Texas is in the migratory flyway for Monarch butterflies who winter in Mexico and return to the USA and Canada for summer. Sadly, scientists report a drop of nearly 60 percent in the number of Monarch butterflies making it to their winter mountain home in Mexico this year — the lowest level since record-keeping began 20 years ago. Is it due to pollution or loss of environment? One winter I visited the Monarch Sanctuary in Pacific Grove, CA (Monterrey) and saw the trees full of Monarchs, looking like flowers..
