  1. We have an emerging cult of Ayn Rand that has been leading the right-wing here since at least the early 60′s. All one has to do is read her many quotes to see where we are heading:

“I swear by my life and my love of it that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine.”
    — (Atlas Shrugged)

“My happiness is not the means to any end. It is the end. It is its own goal. It is its own purpose.”
    — (Anthem)

  2. Watched the Sunday Morning talkshows and nary one voice did I hear from anyone except Republicans promoting their talking points. Most often the guests refused to answer the questions but would come back with unrelated talking points. When asked about the debt ceiling, Sen. Mitch McConnell instead went off on a tirade against “the worst legislation ever….Obamacare”. It’s not only Faux News carrying the REICH’s water.

ABC’s “This Week” — Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC).

NBC’s “Meet the Press” — Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

CBS’ “Face the Nation” — House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH).

CNN’s “State of the Union” — Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI).

I never watch “Fox News Sunday” but supposedly they sandwiched Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) between Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) and Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ).

  3. Mr. Hedges speaks of lack of empathy then says Couric is repugnant. Do as I say, not as I do?

    • Repugnant means objectionable and has nothing to do with empathy. One can be empathetic and still be critical of another’s words and actions.

Hedges strongly believes that as a nation we must wrest control back from the ever-powerful multinational corporations and believes people in the media like Couric and their handlers control the nation’s “organs of communication.” In fact Mike Huckabee once said that Katie Couric was extraordinarily gentle, even helpful in her Sarah Palin interview. The Baptist pastor said, “It was not a good interview. I’m being charitable.” OH, how UN-empathetic of Mike Huckabee, too! /snark

Our media tilts towards the REICH-wing regardless of how many times Faux News uses the BIG LIE and laments the “liberal media” takeover (see my Sunday talk lineup above). Chris Hedges is spot on when it comes to the power of propagandists who are helping to take our nation to the extreme REICH.
