A Saturday Smorgasbord Of Stories I Kind Of Liked
I’ve been learning about Ayn Rand lately, not reading her books, but learning about her. I remember as a teenager friends telling me I should read the Fountainhead and for some reason I was never that interested in it based on what I heard about it. The more I learn, the more it makes me laugh that some on the Right are embracing her ideas so vigorously. Amy Sullivan at Swampland has this interesting piece about this phenomenon.
I came across this a while ago at Blacks4Barack, it has 244 accomplishments of President Barack Obama in categories.
I never understand why Republicans think that crying in the media about being picked on helps them somehow. They look like children.
Booman has a great post about minority voter suppression and how Republicans hate those groups, the hate part was mine!
Jim Wright over at Stonekettle Station has a nice piece about old Newt Gingrich’s entry into the GOP horse race, giddyup!
Donald Trump wasn’t very fond of this story at the New York Times and went on CNBC to whine about it, Oliver Willis has the video.
Sometimes you just gotta love Stephen Colbert, he’s forming his own “Colbert Super PAC”. TPM has the full story with video, pretty cool stunt Stephen.

Thank you for that link to Chumps for Trump..poor things being so beguiled by someone like him and they end up losing their life savings. I do have empathy for them.
I passed it on..worth noting as he goes out in a whine but threatens to never stop blowing hot gas fumes.
Love it that Jon Stewart took on Bill O’Reilly over the faux disgust of the rapper Common when that same network had previously praised Common. Stewart showed Huckabee’s Saturday night show where he announced he is NOT running for president. Huckabee talked about his love for Jesus and introduced his favorite rocker, the most REICH-wing Ted Nugent to sang his Cat Scratch Fever:
Ted Nugent once wielded two machine guns on stage during a concert and shouted over the microphone:
Nugent summed up his eloquent speech by screaming “freedom!”
Nugent is OKAY with the Jeezus lovin’ Huckabee and Faux News, but that network went ballistic over Common being invited to the White House for a poetry night.
I volunteer for a music festival here in my town, I was the site director for a few years, but one year they booked Ted Nugent. He soon after the booking went on a radio show and spewed some of his racism. We canceled the show, he sued, we paid him the original contract. He of course tried to get damages, which the judge threw out. But I was very glad that our executive director stood up to his racism, even though it cost the festival $80K. It was worth it to stand up to such a piece of shit.
My old roommate actually worked for his band. He knew Ted well and was himself a right-winger, although he was liberal in some ways. Ted is a racist asshole, pure and simple…simple being the key word, dumb as a box of rocks would be a few more words for it.
Oh, and I’m glad you have him in Texas now Grant, you want to take Michael Moore too?
Nugent bought a “ranch” near George W. Bush’s place near Crawford. I guess he felt he needed to protect Bush with his personal arsenal. He loves to kill even though he stayed out of Vietnam with a student deferment. When Bush entered Iraq, Nugent felt the U.S. should have “Nagasakied” that nation, IOW “nuke” it.
Of course Nugent hates President Obama.
Nugent still owns a 900 acre hunting property near Jackson, Michigan where he sells “canned” hunts. At his Sunrize Acres Nugent personally guides customers on a hunt for trophy bull bison ($5,000), Russian boar, or white-tailed deer ($1,000 each).

And remember, he is a favorite of Rev. Mike Huckabee!!!
