Where Liberalism Is Alive and Well!

A “Koch” And A Frown!

The Koch Brothers, David and Charles, who are doing there best to influence American politics are whining about all those mean people who are protesting and saying bad things about them. Of course it’s just fine for them to give $54 million dollars to climate change denial advocates to spread propaganda, but if you exercise your free speech, you’re just being a meany. They own many industries that pollute, you know? They apparently gave unprecedented access for an interview with The Weakly Standard (sp). Here is some of the whining and lying…

“One additional thing that really bothered me,” he said, “was that the press attacked me rather than the guy who impersonated me! And I was criticized as someone who’s got a death grip on the governor and his policies. And that I control him—I mean, that’s insane!”

Awe, let’s all give him a collective sigh. Poor, poor, mega-wealthy man. I’m sure he can afford the counseling he’s going to need after being criticized by those mean old liberals. Now for the lies…

That last part has caught the attention of the left’s scouring eye. For unlike many billionaires, the Koch brothers espouse classical liberal economics: They advocate lower taxes, less government spending, fewer regulations, and limited government. “Society as a whole benefits from greater economic freedom,” Charles wrote in a recent Wall Street Journal op-ed. Judging by the results of the 2010 elections, there are millions of Americans who agree with him.

Ah, yea, well….we tried that little experiment starting in 2001 when the Supreme Court appointed George W. Bush and he gave you all those huge tax cuts, slashed regulations and staffed the government with lobbyists intent on destroying whatever agency they were meant to oversee. And they put it on the charge card too. How did that work out for America and “society as a whole”? We entered a deep recession that our current president, someone who is 100 times smarter than the Koch Bros, had to pull us out of with no help whatsoever from Republicans. In fact, as we all know, they did everything they could to stop President Obama from getting us out of that mess.

Let’s take a look at one of Rachel Maddow’s excellent pieces about the Koch Bros…

The Koch Brothers have been financing a propaganda campaign for decades and have used all sorts of slimy, hateful, lying tactics…to the tune of many millions of dollars. But when a blogger pranks a wingnut governor and exposes the coziness with which politicians treat these guys, he all of a sudden becomes a righteous, moral person who feels like he can say things like this about the Buffalo blogger who impersonated him…

“And I think it’s extremely dishonest to misrepresent yourself. I think there’s a question of integrity. And the person who would do that has got to be an incredibly dishonest person.”

Give me a freakin break. The guy who helped finance the “grassroots” uprising during the health care debate, remember all the lies spread during that charade. Or how about the fact that they have been financing the anti-climate change groups who are also spreading lies and misinformation which has had the effect of turning the Republican party into a party of climate change deniers. What do scientists know anyway? Should David Koch be saying anything at all about someone else being dishonest? Have you ever seen such hubris?

  1. I think that people need to do more pranks against the Koch brothers and Walker seriously needs to stop snorting the Koch.

  2. I’m sorry I bummed you out on the recall thing, Jim. :) I didn’t mean to, and I plan to work on the effort. BTW, I updated it, so please check it.

the guy who owns the Weekly Standard, is a friend of the Kochs. They hired Michael Goldfarb to whitewash their reps. Both Goldfarb & the writer of the article, are past recipients of a fellowship funded, in part, by guess who…..yep, the evil brothers.
